For 29 years Jim Amon was the Executive Director of the D&R Canal Commission, planning for and overseeing the development of the D&R Canal from its condition as an abandoned waterway to its present status as the most visited park in the State of New Jersey. He spent ten years as the Director of Stewardship for the D&R Greenway Land Trust, doing ecological restoration work on over 100 nature preserves. Jim also served as a Sourland Conservancy board member, volunteer and hike leader for several years.

In his new book "Seeing the Sourlands" he explores the Flora, Fauna and Wildlife that reside within the Sourlands, a 90 square mile section of forest which is within the counties of Hunterdon, Mercer and Somerset. The Sourlands is New Jersey's largest contiguous forest. The preservation of this forest within New Jersey, the most densely populated state is challenging. Highlighting the Sourlands unique attributes as home to a rich biodiversity is important now more than ever.

Jim Amon uses his unique voice and his photographic lens to enlighten and delight us as we broaden our knowledge of the natural beauty that surrounds us.
