What is the Supervision of Minors policy?

All minors (less than 18 year of age) require adult supervision at all times. Parental consent is required for all minors.

  • At least one adult age 18 and over is required per five minors.

Who needs to sign a waiver?

ALL participants MUST COMPLETE a signed waiver at least 24 hours prior to the trip. Participants under 18 need a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. These should be submitted in advance of your tubing date. Failure to do so may result in being turned away from tubing with the group. Our minimum age requirement to participate is 6 years.

To complete the online waiver, please CLICK HERE - BBG Tubing Waiver and follow the directions below:

Order #: Enter your Groups name or Camp Name

Date of Reservation: select the date of your trip

Participant #1: this must be a person 18 yrs or older regardless if they are attending the trip. If you have minors attending this field is for the parent/guardian to complete. Minor information will be entered on page 2.

Participant #2-20: you can add as many adults to the same waiver by clicking the “ADD” button, this will create more participant lines.

Minors. Once all participants over the age of 18 years have signed select “NEXT”. On the second page, a parent/guardian will need to enter in their information. Below that, you will be asked to provide the name of the minor and their age, you may enter up to 3 minors on a waiver. If you need to add
more, you will need to fill out a new waiver.

Do we tube in groups?

We have found the best experience for all is to have tubers linked together in parties no larger than 6. If minors are tubing, an adult must be in each group. We ask that you have these small groups planned out ahead of time. You can email us the list ahead of time, however your point person will be responsible for having the group list and breaking up the groups. Any minors must be accompanied by one adult in a 5:1 ratio. Our staff will assist in linking the groups
together and getting them safely on to the river.

Can we swim?

During your trip, we ask that everyone remain in their tubes as they float downriver. Should you fall out of your tube or flip, please hop back in as quickly as possible, as there can be unseen hazards below the river. We will have a patrol boat on the water monitoring the waterways for your safety. Should you need assistance, you can call us at: 609-460-4784, option #3. If you are bringing a phone with you on river, please be sure to have this number saved!

What is the cancellation policy for groups?

For large groups, we require a minimum of 72 hours to cancel your reservation, beyond that, your trip is non-refundable. If we need to cancel on you due to inclement weather, your trip will be refunded in full or you will given an opportunity to book for another date. There are no refunds if your trip is cut short due to unexpected weather or river conditions. There are no refunds if your trip is terminated for violation of any of our policies

Where can we have lunch?

We have space near our parking area to eat, but there are no picnic tables, so bring blankets to sit on.

You can also bring food on the river in coolers. We rent cooler floats, but you need to bring your own cooler. No glass bottles are permitted and all other packaging must be biodegradable. Any trash must be brought off the river.

We can provide a brown bag lunch upon request.  Sandwich choice of Italian sub, turkey sub, and peanut butter and jelly on white bread with a bag of chips and a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie

Does someone guide us on the river?

The trip is generally self-guided. We drop you off at the start and pick you up where you get off the river. If you would like a guide, we can supply a kayak guide for an additional charge of $150.00 per guide.

Kayak escorts can assist tubers if you have fallen out of their tubes, as well as to provide safety information during your trip. We recommend having 1 escort per
20 tubers for groups with participants under 18 yrs, and 1 escort per 25 tubers for adult groups. If you would like specific recommendations for your party or would like to add a kayak escort to your trip, please email tubing@bigbeargearnj.com to update your reservation.

What do I need to bring?

We will send over a list of recommended items to bring with you for your tubing trip. All items are available at our tubing base site which has a small retail shop. Our tubing location is a cashless operation, so all transactions must be made with a credit card. A larger selection of merchandise is available at our retail shop located in Lambertville, NJ. You can also purchase online at www.BigBearGearNJ.com. We can have your purchased items ready for you at our tubing center if purchased at least 72 hours in advance of your reservation. To have your items shipped to our tubing location (free of charge), under “gift message” include your First and Last name, and date/time of your tubing trip.

What happens if the weather is not good or the river too high?

When planning an outdoor activity, the weather may sometimes not cooperate. Usually, we have some notice in the forecast that a storm system is moving in or that the river is expected to be high and can make alternate plans.

As we operate on the Delaware River, we are subject to the whims of mother nature. Our staff is always monitoring for changes in the weather forecast. If there is a strong possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms, we will not be able to operate. We will be reaching out to you no less than 24 hours in advance if there is a chance of inclement weather for which we might cancel. Our final determination to run will usually occur the morning of your trip by 8am. We
will reach out to you either via email or phone, whichever is preferred.

If we need to cancel your trip due to weather, we can attempt to place your group at our partner organization, Sky ZoneTrampoline Park  in Mt. Olive, NJ, subject to availability. If you cannot make use of this opportunity, then you will receive a refund or credit.
